In one of our early lessons, Sancho and I talked about online resources. I wanted to supplement our weekly training with other resources and try to learn as much as I could.

There are many places to get information. A simple Google search of just about any topic yields more resources than one can imagine.

The problem with the internet, for this, and just about anything, is that some resources are amazingly good, and some are terrifically bad. And if you don’t know good from bad, it’s hard to know who to pay attention to.

Remembering that I am focusing on combative training and not target or long range precision shooting, I’ve compiled some resources that Sancho has shared; that I’ve found online myself; and that follow the same training methods I’ve been learning in our training.

This video from Panteao Productions on the Importance of Firearms Training pretty much sums up what the training I’m doing is about and what makes it different.  It also stresses the importance of hands-on training, supplemented by online learning.

Other resources to check out:

Kelly Venden

Travis Haley

Haley Strategic and Haley’s Shooting Drills

Pat McNamara

Sig Sauer Academy

Pew Pew Tactical

This was an interesting article that Sancho shared in our first lesson. It explains a lot about the mindset of first responders, and every one else.

On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs
(From the book, On Combat, by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman)

This link is just for fun:

Polenar Tactical Handgun Reload Technique

Oh, and one link to training that is terrifyingly unsafe and scary.

It’s pretty much common sense: Don’t ever let anyone point a loaded or unloaded firearm at you in training. Ever.

If you’ve found good and helpful resources, please post them in the comments below. And I will keep adding to the list as I come across more.
